Easy Access Trails – Carlton Marshes

Sprat’s Water Trail (0.75mile/1.2km) and Share Marsh Trail (1.75miles/2.8km) are 2 waymarked easy access routes starting from behind the visitor centre.  On firm wide paths these trails are wheelchair friendly and offer access to several bird hides and viewing platforms along the way.  From October to April a section of Share Marsh Trail is closed but the route still offers opportunities for out and back adventures.

These marshes are a special place for wildlife and are home for many birds and animals including freshwater snails, water voles, grasshopper warblers, and birds of prey like marsh harriers, hobbies and barn owls.  Keep an eye out for insects and flowers too – you may spot a fen raft spider, a marsh orchid or a rare dragonfly (28 species of dragonfly have been spotted here!)
