A 6 mile circular walk starting from Old Street. The leaflet features 3 beautiful walks of varying distances that take you on a fascinating journey around the village and surrounding countryside.
Haughley was once one of Suffolk’s most important towns, but it suffered at the end of the 16th century when a great fire destroyed much of the village.
Gallowsfield Wood, with 20 acres of woodland is located on Tot Hill just off the cycle path. It was established as an area for public use by Suffolk County Council, as part of the 1987 European Year of the Environment. The aim was to create an entirely new woodland, with the aim of enhancing the landscape whilst encouraging and promoting nature conservation and at the same time demonstrating a number of traditional woodland management techniques. In 2013 ownership of the wood passed to Haughley Parish Council. About Gallowsfield Wood
